3rd generation Nest Thermostat - Low battery

Disappointed3
Community Member

I have a 3rd generation NEST thermostat and is now registering a low battery.  I am able to recharge it but only holds for 2 days.  Contacted Nest support and was basically told the battery is not replaceable  - throw the unit out and buy a new one.  If I would have known that Google Nest considers these to be disposable units I would have stuck with my Honeywell which never let me down.

The C wire keeps the battery charged. Make sure it has power.

Hello folks,

I'm chiming in to see how I can help.

Thanks for the input, @Dave991.

@Disappointed3, oh no! I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat not holding its charge. Let's sort this out.

I understand that in most cases, the Nest Learning Thermostat can charge its built-in battery using your heating and cooling wires. But there are situations where you have to connect a Nest Power Connector or a Common wire to consistently deliver power to the thermostat. Please check out this article and let us know if you have more questions.

Regards,
Mark
