What are the functions of each pin on this Nest Thermostat?
Which pins are used to apply 24VAC to the thermostat directly?
Which pins will give a contact closure for heating?
The pins available and marked are Y, C, W, G, R *OB on the Nest Thermostat.
Thanks

What each wire is for is explained in the "Common thermostat wires" section of this help article:
Identify a thermostat wire - Google Nest Help
The "R" wire is used for power on Nest Thermostat, but the help article explains what Rh and Rc wires are. The best thing to do is use the compatibility checker:
Thermostat Compatibility - Google Store

HI Davidking and thank you very much for your response confirming power to the Nest thermostat is applied to pins R and C. Please confirm that the contact closure in the thermostat for heat is between R and W.
Thanks
David

The W, W1, or W2 wire controls heat.
