Yes you should be able to use any of the Nest thermostats with your setup. Some connections on the Nest wire plate are named differently depending on the particular Nest model, for example there is no R for the Nest learning thermostat, but Rh and Rc, and you would plug into Rh. The rest should be the same for you.

Hi gsam,

Thanks for reaching out — I saw your post and wanted to chime in. I'm sorry for the delay.

Nest Learning Thermostat is compatible with the wiring you have. The brown wire connected to the B terminal  is a common wire.

You can check this wiring guide: (Note: You don't need to use any jumper wires)

  • White wire to W1 Nest terminal
  • Yellow wire to Y1 Nest terminal
  • Green wire to G Nest terminal
  • Blue wire  to OB Nest terminal
  • Brown wire to C Nest terminal
  • Red wire to RC Nest terminal

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks for assisting on this thread @Markjosephp.

Regards,

Jenelyn

Hi @Jenelyn_O @Markjosephp

Thank you for sharing the information.

I trier above combination but I wasn’t able to start the Google nest thermostat. Everytime I put the thermostat and I kept getting this error message “No power to common wire detected. Learn more at nest.com/e79”

I am attaching the screenshot of the error and wiring in thermostat. I am also attaching the wiring the Hvac panel for these 6 wires.

Hi @Markjosephp

Hope you are doing well

I have bought 2nd generation Nest Learning thermostat. This is my current wiring and it does not have C wire. Can you please suggest if Nest Learning thermostat is compatible?

Please let me know if you want to picture of my hvac panel. I have three zones in my house. Below thermostat wiring is for the Master thermostat. I have two more thermostat which acts as slave.
