AC cycles on and off continuously.

I have read previous posts most suggesting to confirm the C wire is attached.  This i have done.  i had my HVAC guys out to see if the problem was somewhere in the equipment and everything checked out.

even if i set the temp several degrees below the current temperature the system runs for a minute then shuts off and 30 seconds later turns back on.

any thoughts???

Here is test you can try.  remove your Nest Thermostat Display, Take your Y wire and R wire and connect them to gather you can use a metal paper clip to hold both wires together. Turn power on, does the AC come on and stay on?

Hi Cooling Wizard, will this solution of connecting the Y and R wires together solve the problem of the Nest thermostat (2020) cooling count down, turning on and immediately shutting off, with no power and no connectivity displaying? All wires are properly in their slots including 'C'.

A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Have you checked if the air filter is dirty and needs to be changed? Also, can you help me with your Nest Learning Thermostat's power reading?  

1. To open the Quick View menu, press the thermostat’s ring.
2. Choose Settings.
3. Turn the ring to highlight Technical Info then press the ring to select it.
4. Select Power. 
   • Battery
   • VOC
   • VIN 
   • IIN

Hi Dan, we solved the problem by disconnecting the 'C' wire. The thermostat now turns on the A/C, it stays on and it is working properly. Is there any disadvantage to not connecting the 'C' wire?

@Paullied, awesome — glad to hear that your issue is fixed and to answer your question, there is no disadvantage to what you did. Both the C wire and the Nest power connector act as a power median or source. You can use either one. By the way, hats off to you for the resolution you provided.
