AC is off with Thermostat OFFLINE with black screen and red blinking right on top

AC system is off with Nest Learning 3rd Gen thermostat OFFLINE with black screen and red blinking right on top. Is it an AC issue , thermostat issue or both? I replaced filter and tried to physically turn ON the AC in the basement with the switch but it makes a click sound and doesn't turn AC on.  I have taken the thermostat panel off and charging it will USB cable from a wall outlet. I have also opened a claim with my home warranty company ( Choice Home Warranty). I dont know what and where is the real problem: AC or thermostat?

Hi Jenelyn,

Thanks for responding. My AC is back on. It was the nest learning thermostat issue. It discharged and drained out. Charging it eith USB also didn't help recharge ir. I bought a new nest thermostat and installed/configured it. The AC turned back on thereafter. There was no problem with AC. Alls well now. Thanks, Ash.

Hi ashsaksena,

Thanks for reaching out. A few questions: do you see any messages or code on your thermostat? How long did you charge your thermostat?

Please check your thermostat Power readout:

  1. Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Turn the ring and find the Technical Info.
  4. Select Power.

Best,

Jenelyn
