App Connects to Nest but Won't Change Temp

Been having this issue for about a year now. Just bought a new Nest thinking the battery wasn't holding a charge, but that does not seem to be the issue. The thermostat will periodically show offline in the app four hours at a time. Battery power is 3.867V. Even when the app connects and shows the current settings on thermostat, changing it on the app does nothing. I have reinstalled the app. Tried both the Nest app and Google Home.  We have an Xfinity router. I have tried completely disabling the firewall and it did not help.

Anyone else seeing this?

Thank you for your timely post and the comprehensive information you've provided. I've reviewed the input and understand that you are experiencing intermittent offline issues with your Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation. I'm here to help you troubleshoot and find a solution together.

To assist you further, please attempt the following questions:

  • Does the Nest thermostat have a connection to your WiFi?
  • Is there a connection between the Nest app and the thermostat?
  • Does a factory data reset get done?

You can do this in the interim: 

  • Check to see whether your Nest thermostat is linked to your wifi. A checkmark will appear if your Nest thermostat is linked to your wifi after selecting Settings, then Network.
  • Check to see if your Nest thermostat is linked to the Nest app.
