BOILER WONT TURN OFF

Deadroute
Community Member

I've just replaced my old wireless room thermostat and programer, with the nest..

The old one was connected with the AB wires, so i put them into the 2/3 bits on the nest....

seems to work okay, heatlink finds the thermostat etc...

but the boiler just continues to fire, and wont shut off even when set to 'off' on the thermostat ...

have put the old thermostat back on for now as i don't want my heat on full for hours

any advice?

I am having the same problem. My old Honeywell thermostat works perfectly but I wanted the potential energy savings that the nest would afford. I have reset, rewired............no help.  Others have reported similar.  It is clearly a thermostat issue..........replace with the old basic Honeywell and it works fine again.  Hopefully Google will assist!

Thank you.  I believe I will have to do the same.  Disappointing.

Thank you for the information shared @Deadroute and @wjr762 . I am sorry to hear you are facing difficulties with your systems and I would be happy to try and assist.

There are numerous reasons why the heating might not go off but for starters I would like to know the type of system you have at the location, is it a Combi boiler, system boiler with a water tank, etc. and if you had a look at our installation guide page here?

Thanks for this, but i've already returned it..\

It was a combi boiler with a wireless stat, which i just replaced.. put that back on and it works fine...

and yes, it came with that in the box, and i watched some tutorials online etc.

It's best to document the issue in the best way possible and check with our Seniors. Would it be alright if I send you an email on the address associated with your Community account?

I did, but I don’t know the serial number of the unit because I sent it back,  don’t worry about it. I bought a tado and it worked perfectly

Hi Deadroute,

Now you have me interested!  Did you buy the Tado in the US?

Any compatibility issues?

Can you please send us a picture of the current wiring before sending the email?

Thank you for reaching out. I have not returned the thermostat yet.

My Boiler is a Lockinvar high efficiency boiler. It is NOT a combination unit.

Additionally, yes I have watched the installation instruction, visited numerous posts and chats.  It seems to be a common issue.

My system is a 2 wire, low voltage (red and white) wire.  The original 'dumb' thermostat (Honeywell) works perfectly and that is what I am using now again. I would love to be able to use the Nest..........not very hopeful at this point
