Hi Basutafamily,
Thanks for reaching out. I understand that your Google Nest thermostat is offline. I know this can be frustrating, but don't worry, I'm here to help!
Before I provide troubleshooting steps, I'd like to ask a few questions to better understand your situation:
- What Nest thermostat model do you have?
- Does the thermostat display show any error codes or messages?
- Can your other devices find your Wi-Fi network name (SSID)?
- Do you only have one Wi-Fi network, or are there others?
- If yes, do any of them end in "_ext"?
- Are you trying to connect to the 2.4 GHz or the 5 GHz network?
- Can your other Wi-Fi-capable devices (phone, tablet, computer) connect to the internet through your Wi-Fi network?
- Has your thermostat ever connected to your network?
- How far away is the thermostat from the router?
- Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the thermostat?
- What's the software version of your thermostat?
- Are you controlling your thermostat from the Nest or Google Home app or the thermostat display?
- If from the Nest or Google Home app, is your mobile device on a different Wi-Fi network than the thermostat?
I look forward to your response.
Regards,
Manuel
