Best thermostat battery replacement

The google home app has alerted me that my nest thermostat needs its batteries replaced. I put in 2 brand new AAA Duracell batteries and now the nest will not turn on. When I switch the batteries back to the old Google batteries it turns on. Do I need a specific brand of batteries for the nest to work?

Yes, you need 1.5 V AAA alkaline batteries.

Do you have a brand recommendation? The brand new Duracell alkaline batteries I have aren't working in the nest.

Nest doesn't specify. It just says high-quality 1.5 V AAA alkaline batteries from a known manufacturer.
