Bring back Nest without Google!

Google keeps logging out of Nest so I can’t instantly adjust temperature.  The performance to log back in is so painful, involving TFA etc.  This was never an issue with ‘Nest’ as that just worked!  I would not recommend Nest products because of this issue.

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Google Home app. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

 

  • When did the issue start?
  • What's the version of your Google Home app?
  • Have you checked if there's an update for the Google Home app?

I am not using Google Home, just the Nest App, with Google log-in.  Never seen the benefit of Google home, it’s just another layer between me and my heating settings.  This Nest logout/login seems to happen on a regular basis, around once a month. It can then take several minutes just to log into Nest with TFA, etc. Then I get all the emails about someone has logged in to my account.   All I want to do is turn the heating up, or hot water on.  It is quicker to go upstairs and turn it up manually.

Thanks Edward, it is not clear to me how to clear the Cache. 
Also, will that clear all schedules and settings?

Hey DASB,

 

Sorry for the late response. Clearing the cache will not delete all schedules and settings. Go to your phone settings > Apps > Nest app > Clear cache.

Sorry for slow reply. I looked on iPhone & iPad settings>Nest (under list of apps) but there is no ‘clear cache’ button, just ‘allow to access’ and under ‘nest settings’ version & legal. So not sure what I’m missing.

Thanks for the reply here and we're sorry for the delay.

 

Since we're unable to see the Clear Cache option from the app, we could try to uninstall and re-install the Google Home app on your phone.
