Can I set my thermostat to automatically go below 50 at night?

I would like to set my thermostat to automatically go below 50 at night, on the schedule. I have been turning it to the off mode manually  every night, but then have to turn it back on in the morning for the heat to kick back on.  We live in CA, and don't like the heat on at night.

Do you use the nest/google home app? Have you tried creating a schedule for this?

Still wondering if I can set my thermostat to go below 50 degrees at night? I am using the schedule so the temperatures automatically adjust ( at different times of day), and so I don’t have to manually adjust it. But the lowest temp I can set the schedule is 50 degrees, is there a way around this? I’ve been turning the whole it to the off mode every night before bed, but then I have to manually turn back on in the morning.
thank you

You can actually set a safety temperature for this option. From the main page, the lowest you can turn the ring is 50 only. Kindly refer to this link here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9249790?hl=en#zippy=%2Cset-safety-temperatures%2Cwith-t...
With safety temp, the heat will turn on when it goes lower than 45.

Hi folks,

@Anonymous, thanks for the help!

@MeganN, Like what eveluna mentioned, we can only set a target temperature below 50 as a safety temperature. Please click on the link that eveluna provided to learn more about this.

Thanks,

Edward
