Hello, I an from Romania and I bought a Nest thermostat and a sensor and I cannot add it, I received the message
Waiting for a thermostat update, and your thermostat needs a software update. " after I scanned the QR code from the sensor. I tried to update the thermostat, but it says that it is already the latest version.
Can someone help on this? I paid some money to have this sensor and now am I unable to ise it.
The las update of the thermostat is from December 2022, now we are in 2025.

Where did you purchase the Sensor and thermostat?
The European version of the Nest thermostat doesn't support the Nest sensor.

Sadly as Patrick Caezza states, remote sensors do not work with UK/EU thermostats as they have a Heat Link set-up.
Assuming you might have a 3rd Gen Stat, the latest software for a 3rd Generation thermostat is 5.9.5-2. Nothing after that version. You are probably correct with the date being 2022, November if memory serves me correct. That update was due to the thermostat not finding the Heat Link for pairing, and that took them 2 years to work out.
This topic has been going on ever since the launch of the sensor, but Google are not interested at all for the UK/EU. The UK/EU software even holds the support for the sensor, but still they will not allow usage.
I would suggest a return to Amazon, and just check on the Amazon page if the sensor was shipped from USA.
