Can’t control thermostat in app

I can see the thermostat and check to see there has been no activity, but I can’t access control to the thermostat. I tried to reconnect and add the thermostat to the app but when I go to the thermostat to get a key it says it is already connected

You've selected Nest app and Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen), however that model is setup and managed in the Home app. Is it possible you're checking the wrong app?

If you sign into the correct app using the same account you setup the thermostat with, your thermostat should automatically be there, no action required?
