Can’t hold a temperature longer than 24 hours?

Why can’t I hold  a temperature longer than 24 hours on the Google Nest I just installed? I don’t want to create a schedule. I just want to set a temperature and have the ability to change it on my phone.

A $20 thermostat can hold a temperature. Why does the Nest lack the ability to do it for more than 24 hours?

Yea this is pretty lame. I can leave it on eco for “infinity” but not for any of the other temperature modes. I’d like to keep my set temperature for as long as I want, not as long as Google will let me.

If there is no interest in fixing this, then I’m taking it back.

Hey JasonCocca,

Sorry for the late reply. I wanted to follow up and ensure you are good to go. Users can set a temperature hold for up to 24 hours for any mode.

  • Infinite (or indefinite) : Only for Eco. This is the only mode where an infinite hold is available.
  • Hit the 24 hours (=next day): X:XX (P.M./A.M.} + 1 day
    • First landing + the last time increment before the 24 hours

Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Best regards,

Jake

So ECO will hold indefinitely, but the temperature selection is limited by Google. Heat can only go to 70° max, and cool will not go below 76°. Why not let me decide ?

Thanks Jake. I returned the Nest because I need a thermostat that will hold my chosen temperature for more than 24 hours.

I have a Honeywell thermostat in another home. It is much easier to operate. And I can hold a temperature indefinitely by a simple push of a button. Google made this way too complicated and very restrictive.

Hi Jake, we are having the same problem and would like to have the ability to turn the heat to 58 and hold for 3 days per week while we are not home. I am having difficulty following your instructions on how to do that. It is not on a consistent basis so setting it up in schedules does not work for us.

Hi tgrclr374,

We appreciate your interest however; we don't have any news to share about an option to hold the temperature for more than 24 hours. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback.

I also suggest that you send feedback by following this link. Let me know if you have other questions or concerns, otherwise I’ll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Best,

Mel

This is making me crazy!! It’s so hot outside and my temp won’t continue to hold 70.
