Can’t reset Nest thermostat

MHC

Nest thermostat has been installed and works properly for almost a year. It was blinking green light on top of the thermostat from last night. Based on Help of the Nest, The thermostat was unplugged and recharged.  WiFi router was restarted.  The light is still blinking green by push and hold thermostat down for more then 20 seconds. Nest thermostat screen still dark and no response.

Hey MHC,

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the delayed response.

Quick question — what specific Nest thermostat do you have? Also, how many minutes have you charged it using a micro-USB cable?

A blinking green light near the top of your Nest thermostat’s display means that it’s updating the software, starting up, or restarting. Typically, this will only last a minute or two. Once your thermostat has finished starting up, it'll turn on so you can use it. However, if the light blinks green and your thermostat is unresponsive for more than 15 minutes, it may have frozen during the update.

  1. Try to remove and reconnect the display. Pull it straight off the base. Make sure the pin connector is lined up correctly and push it back onto the base. You should hear a click to confirm it is properly seated.
  2. If reconnecting the display doesn't help, you can manually restart it. Check out the steps here: https://bit.ly/3riP5Dp

Keep me posted.

Best,
