Cannot add a 2nd thermostat to the app

I have had both thermostats added to the app before but I had to do a factory reset on them and now I can only add one,  This is the message........    "The app is having trouble connecting to the assisting Nest product. Make sure your close to it, that's it's online and that you r phone is connected to the same wifi network. TD013 (4096). "   I keep getting this error. I already reset to factory setting twice. I can connect either one by its self but when I try to add one or the other as a second device it gives me the error message above. Please help.

How close together are you two thermostats during the setup?

Hi Ryan,

I'm having the same problem (TD013) when trying to add additional thermostats to my Nest app. Is there a method to add multiple thermostats?

Thank you,

Mike

I figured it out. I have the Nest Learning Thermostat and the original nest app on iPhone, not Google Home.

So here is what I did to make it work:

1. Setting, reset, Wnn network

it will say if you haven’t migrated to Google Home you won’t get the latest features, Press to continue.

2. Back to Setting, Nest App, and press to continue. It will ask you to get internet connection first, go ahead and follow the instructions to add internet connection

3. then it will give you the option to get entry key. Get the entry key. Do not scan the QR code or use the 6 digits key on the device. You will get a ###-ABCD 7 characters key

4. Go to your nest app on your iPhone, use the 7 character key to add device

Searched multiple threads for this answer. This fixed it for me. Thanks!!

I have the exact same problem. Tried every solution and still doesn't work. - reset everything - not using 5G - bring the original one close to 2nd one - bring second one close to the original one - airplane mode. nothing worked!

I just tried again and it worked! Totally random but I started the QR code scan from like 3 feet away and just came closer and closer till it scanned and it worked! Try it, hopefully it works for you... I did keep it on a non-5g network and I reset the thermostat from the settings menu (not a factory reset) before I did it but that’s it!
