Central Heating not coming on

Jodan

My central heating suddenly won’t come on.  Boiler is fine as hot water is working.  Have spent hours trying to resolve myself by resetting heat link and thermostat with no success.  Have also tried deleting it from the app and reinstalling.  It’s as if nest isn’t telling the boiler to come on.  Also noticed that weave ID on the app is different to on the thermostat but I don’t know how to change it or if you can.  Maybe that’s the problem?  It’s recently been replaced due to damage to previous thermostat but it’s all been working fine.  Worked yesterday morning but not in the evening.  Please help, it’s freezing 🥶

Thanks for reaching out to us here @Jodan . I am sorry to hear you are facing difficulties with your thermostat and I'll do my best to try and assist you with it.

Just to confirm, does everything look ok with the thermostat? No message on the display, green LED on the Heat Link.

You mentioned it was replaced previously. Was the Heat Link and display replaced? How long ago was that.

You also mentioned the hot water is ok. Is the hot water controlled from the thermostat or is it like a Combi boiler where the thermostat only controls the heating?

Thank you for your reply.  Yes, it was replaced about 3 weeks ago and has been working fine.  It’s a combi boiler so the hot water isn’t controlled by the thermostat. Everything is working fine with bothe the thermostat and the heat link unit.  They are both linked.  It seems that it’s not telling the boiler to come on

Understood. In that case let us do a test on the Heat Link to see how it behaves. We want to do some tests to see how the relays in the Heat Link behave. Go next to the Heat Link and open the Nest app on a mobile device:

1. Select your thermostat to access the heating controls and make sure the screen is black, heating is off.
2. Turn up the temperature until the display goes orange, heating on, and listen for a clicking noise.
3. Turn the temperature back down until the display is black again, heating off, and listen for a clicking noise again.

Let me know what the results are.

Thanks Alex, yes it’s clicking when I turn the temp up and down in the app

Okay, that's good to know. By any chance, do you happen to have a multimeter to perform a continuity test?

That would be great. In the meantime, would it be alright to send you an email on the address associated to your Community account in order to send you the instructions for the continuity test?
