Hello Bala,

Apologies for the delay in response, and welcome to the community! We're happy to hear that you're considering a Nest Thermostat in your home. I'd be happy to look into your wiring setup for you.

For reference, here is what your wiring shows:

  • R: The R wire is the power wire for your heating and cooling system.
  • C: This is where your common-wire would go, which provides consistent power from your HVAC to your thermostat.
  • L: This is your lighting wire. Nest thermostats don't need these to function.

  • O and B: These two control when your heat pump cools or heats your home.

  • W2: This is for your auxillary heat, such as a furnace.

  • E/W: This is your primary heating wire; E-wires turn your emergency heat on or off.

  • Y1: This controls your cooling system.

  • G: This controls your fan.

This is all to say that while it's likely your system would be compatible, the presence of O/B wires usually mean it's a dual-fuel system (or hybrid/packaged system).

You have a dual fuel system if you have a furnace inside of your home, and a heat pump on the outside of your home. Heat pumps look similar to air conditioners, so check the label on your outdoor unit to make sure it’s a heat pump. It’s important for a local pro. to assess the requirements for your specific dual fuel configuration since choosing incorrect options for a dual fuel system can result in damage to your system. To double-check, you can try out our Compatibility Checker.

Please let me know if you have any other questions for me. I'm happy to help!

Thanks,

Ai
