Hello
we have a pottery studio with a wired Nest thermostat that is located behind a shelving unit used for project storage by pottery students. They often place their tool bags in front of thermostat blocking the unit and sometimes shutting off t-stat. I am sure that t-stat accuracy is compromised.
Are there clearances required around thermostat ?
thanks

The thermostat needs to have a enough space to allow the flow of air around it. Frankly, first mistake was to put a storage shelf in fort of it. Try to find a way to maintain several inches of space around the thermostat nothing in front of it nothing above it nothing below it to allow the air to flow around. Basically the fact that the shelf is in front of it blocks airflow that allows the thermostat to sense the room temperature and make decisions whether to heat or cool.
