Compatibility Check for Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen.)

Hi all, I am trying to confirm if my current set-up is compatible for the installation of the Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen.). A photo of the current set-up can be seen here - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pyolL3cHXPYckZmbha_REZgw6Wys5tTF/view?usp=sharing

If you can't see it, the wires I have now are:

C (blue wire)

B (orange wire)

W/E (white wire)

W2 (yellow or cream wire)

RH (red wire)

RC (red wire)

G (green wire)

Y (yellow wire)

Any support would be great as I am trying to see if I can install the thermostat myself or need to hire a professional installer with my current wire setup.

Thanks, M

Yes, it is compatible.

Try this wiring.

C (blue wire) - C

B (orange wire) - O/B

W/E (white wire) - W1

W2 (yellow or cream wire) - W2/AUX

RH (red wire)

RC (red wire) - Rc

G (green wire) - G

Y (yellow wire) - Y1

Y2 (yellow wire) - Y2

Because you had a B terminal you might need to change to the Heat Pump configuration. You can follow these steps.

Nest Learning Thermostat and Thermostat E
  1.  On your thermostat, go to Settings .
  2. Select Equipment.
  3. Select Continue > Continue.
  4. Select Heat Pump.
  5. The Nest Thermostat defaults to an O setting for heat
    pumps.
    • If the O option is highlighted, select B.
    • If the B option is highlighted, select O.
  6. Test your heating and cooling again to make sure the issue is resolved.
