Hello @chromab9,

Thanks for posting in the community.
I appreciate the information you shared. To provide with the right information, I need you to confirm if the wires are connected in the next way:

  • Green> W
  • Y> pink
  • R> blue
  • yellow > RC
  • Can you help to confirm the label for the red wire?

You can also check out the compatibility checker to confirm if your HVAC is compatible with the Nest thermostat.

Please keep me posted. Thank you.

Regards,
Jorge

Good day, yes it is connected exactly the way you saw it, the label for the red wire label is heat cool.

Thank you.

Hey chromab9,

Thank you so much for keeping me updated.

To provide you with accurate information, please help me out by answering the following questions:

  • Do you know if your system has a heating and cooling system?
  • What type of thermostat do you have? If you don’t know what model you are using, check out this article: Nest thermostat technical specifications.

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Regards,

Daniel

Yes the thermostat does control heating and cooling. The thermostat is currently a Trane TH6220D1051.

Hi @chromab9

Thank you for your timely response and the information you've provided.

I really appreciate the steps to follow in the previous post, as well as the details. To assist you further, please provide me with the following information:

  • What type of HVAC system do you have? Do you have a heat pump or a conventional system?
  • May I know the make and model of your HVAC system?
  • If you feel comfortable You can check the control board of your system to check out what labels the wires have so we can determine what's the function of them.
  • Does your system have vents or fans?

Thank you for your attention. I await your response.

Sincerely,

Jeremy

I believe the system is a Trane 42PXABU42BS3HAA with a Trane XE90 furnace

Hi @chromab9,

Thank you for your prompt response and the detailed information you've provided.

I understand that you're familiar with your system and have identified it as a furnace based on the photos and information you've shared. However, since we're unable to determine the specific functions of your wires, particularly those related to heating and cooling, I recommend contacting one of our recommended technicians. To determine how your system should be wired to your thermostat

Thank you for your attention.

Sincerely,

Jeremy
