Converting a Honeywell/Aube TH141 to a smart Nest Thermostat

My problem is a Yellow wire that attaches to an "X" terminal on the old thermostat.  I have the following wiring diagram:

Red - RII

White - W

Blue - G

Yellow - X

Grn - C

RC, and Y unused.

Any thoughts on how to wire the thermostat correctly?

Hello drdukes22,

Glad to see you here in the Google Nest Community! I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

It looks like you have a specific wiring challenge with your Nest Thermostat. Based on the information you provided, it seems you have the following wires:

  • Red (R)
  • White (W)
  • Blue (G)
  • Yellow (X)
  • Green (C)
  • with RC and Y unused.

To correctly wire your thermostat, you'll want to match the wires to the corresponding terminals on your new thermostat. Here's a suggested wiring configuration:

  • The red (R) wire goes to the R or Rh terminal.
  • The white (W) wire goes to the W terminal.
  • The blue (G) wire goes to the G terminal.
  • The yellow (W2) wire goes to the W2/Aux terminal.
  • The green (C) wire goes to the C terminal.
  • Since RC and Y are unused, you can leave them disconnected.

Remember, it's crucial to turn off the power to your HVAC system before attempting any wiring changes to ensure safety. If you're still uncertain, it might be a good idea if you could share a picture of your thermostat's wiring.

Regards,
Mark
