Daikin Compatability

Hi,

I'm looking to check if my system is compatible with google nest learning thermostat (3rd gen) and I guess now that (4th gen) is out, I don't mind investing in that.

I have the following information. Let me know if anything else is needed. I can't seem to find a proper answer anywhere. I checked the nest compatibility test and believe I answered correctly, but the 3rd gen didn't work when I installed so idk.

Let me know if there's any additional questions.

Thank you,

Hello legendiam,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

Checking if your system is compatible with Nest thermostats is a bit complex, but don't worry, I'm here to help.

From what I can tell from the information you provided, a Nest thermostat isn't compatible with your system. The main reason is that the controller used for this unit only has two wires, which handle multiple functions.

Nest thermostats use a standard HVAC wiring configuration. This means each wire is responsible for a specific function of your heating/cooling equipment, like the G wire for controlling the fan and the Y1 wire for activating heating/cooling.

Sadly, I don't have specifics on whether your system can be rewired to use this standard wiring configuration, so as it stands right now your system won't work with a Nest Thermostat.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,
Angel.

The compatibility check shows it should work. Do you know if the new thermostat will be able to? I heard if I do a C wire, then it should work too. I'm just not certain.

Hi there!

Thanks for letting us know what was the result of the compatibility checker.

While it can show you a positive answer we've checked and a Nest thermostat isn't compatible with your system.
As my partner said:

Even if the Nest Learning Thermostat isn't compatible with your HVAC system, we can recommend you to use the Nest Thermostat 2020.

But you're right you'll need to get a common wire (C wire) for this to work.

We understand that installing a new thermostat is exciting, but to get the most out of it, we recommend having a professional electrician rewire your system first. This will prevent any potential issues and ensure optimal performance. We can provide you with contact information for a qualified electrician if needed.

Brandon.

Do you know if the new thermostat (4th Gen) that just released will work? Why would the 2020 Nest Thermostat work but not the Learning? I was told it was other way around. If I use a common wire, will it work with the Learning Thermostat? either the 3rd gen or the new 4th gen?

Thank you,

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding,

Thanks for your questions.

To answer your questions, yes the Nest Learning Thermostat should work for you.

We always recommend to customers to use the C wire, for these thermostats.

Brandon.

Please advise how to connect P1P2 + C wire to thermostat?

I have Daikin VRV and I need this info also.

Nest Learning Thermostat.pngHi there!

Thanks for your question.

While we can provide you with an explanation about each wire that you can connect to our thermostats as you can find on Identify a thermostat wire:

If you find a wire label not listed here, or you find a wire labeled Other, you need to contact a pro to check compatibility and have your thermostat installed. As you can see on the picture that I've sent you, there are the terminals you can find on the Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd gen.

Brandon.
