I swapped out my Trane thermostat for a Nest Learning Thermostat and not 100% sure that it was wired correctly and if the Nest is setup correct. The Trane thermostat had wires going to R, O, Y, G, B, F, X2, W1, S1, and S2. I taped out F, S1, and S2. I put X2 on * connector and W1 on W1. It shows primary as electric and alternate as gas and I have the outside unit set to come on if the temp is above 40. I saw elsewhere that W1 should go to W2 (aux heat)? Any help would be much appreciated. Trane Thermostat

Hello electronlove,
Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look into this.
I appreciate you sharing a photo of your system's wiring configuration with us. Could you also share with us a photo of your Nest Thermostat's wiring? This is to see how it should be labeled.
I'll look forward to your response.
Regards,
Mark

Hi, for some odd reason - when I first posted this it was labeled as spam and not public. It took me a few days to figure out but had already posted again but without any photos. You actually responded to that post, "Wiring Issues with Dual Fuel" and I shared a photos via G-drive. As mentioned, I moved X2 to W2 (since there are tied together at the furnace). The only behavior that I think is different may be the blower speed - especially when the outdoor unit is on (alt fuel is set to 45 degrees). Thanks again,
.

Hi there,
I'm sorry for the late reply. I want to ensure your Nest Thermostat's wiring configuration. Could you also share with us a photo of its wiring? Also, do you have a heat pump with emergency heating? If so, move the orange wire to the O/B terminal, the black wire to the * (star) terminal, and the white wire to the W1 terminal. Then, restart your thermostat to reconfigure your system.
Please let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi electronlove,
I'm checking back in. Were you able to do the steps above? I'd be glad to hear from you — I'd like to make sure everything is working.
Thanks,

Right now I have it on Aux based on the wiring at the furnace which shows X2 tied to W1/W2. It seems to be working but have noticed that stage 1 heat blower is less than stage 2.
Thanks,
Jonathan
