Following set up including downloading latest software the unit displayed E294. I installed a nest power connector and checking its output it was:VIIV 36.596/Lin385/PS C-385. Performed a factory reset but when I installed the unit into the base plate it still reads E294. I measured voltage on the base plate from the Red to the W, Common, Y, and G terminals they all read 27 volts AC. Your wiring diagnostic shows the Y,W,G,R as yellow, but the C as Blue, and I don't know what this means. HELP

Post a picture of the original thermostat wiring and another one of the Nest wiring

Pat I can't see how to attach a picture in this network. The original Honeywell used terminals R, W, Y G, and C(the c wire terminal), I duplicated this wiring in the Nest base plate. If you send me an email address, I'll send pictures of the wiring plates on both thermostats.
Thanks for your response, George Ford

Hello folks,
I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.
Thanks for the help, @Patrick_Caezza.
@georgeford, if the thermostat wires aren't configured properly in the Google Home app, it shows a wiring code. If a code doesn’t appear, the thermostat display shows a link to a wire setup guide.
In this case, you must reset your thermostat to factory defaults and add it back to the Google Home app. Please make sure that the wires are seated at the right terminals. Use the wire setup diagram in the app to move the wires to the right terminals. You can share with us photos of your old and current thermostat's wiring to be sure.
Let us know how it goes.
Regards,
Mark

After over 12 hours of trying to eliminate code 294 I gave up. I cant tell tou how manytimes I reviewed and redid the wiring, installed a power booster and reset to factory settings etc etc. I found several threads talking about a software error that has existed for ovr 2 years. I returned the unit as defective, purchased an Amazon wifi thermostat with identical wiring configurations and requirements (c wire). I installed it and with Alexa had it working perfectly in 20 minutes. Seems like Google has ruined what used to be a great product.
