To whom it may concern,
I have been dealing with this E79 error code since I decided to switch to google smart device (from Honeyweel conventional theremostat which worked great).
Looking over (reviewing) all the chat on the community, tried the suggested approaches, and the same issue. Turning the furnace power breaker seems the most effective way, but I am so sicked tiring of doing this every so often. Have the HVAC persons stepped in so many times, checking the wiring, I believe that I exhausted all the options except finding another new thermostat.
Any suggestions?
Please advise.

Hi, @srhsieh,
Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) is displaying the E79 error code. I understand how important it is for your thermostat to function properly. I’m here to help.
I appreciate you taking the time to contact an HVAC technician to check your system and wiring, as well as your effort to switch the Nest thermostat with your previous one. Since the error still displays after that, our team would like to learn more about this behavior. When you have a chance, please fill out this form and let us know when you're finished. We'll have someone reach out to you via email from there.
Feel free to reply if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Ana
