I have 6 zones, all using Nest Thermostat. I have to replace 3 of Nest gen 2 Thermostat in October. Tell me what

date is End Of Life for Gen 3 Nest Thermostat.

Honestly, there shouldn't be an EOL for A

a product that's still fully functional.

Google needs to revert this whole planned obsolescence bull**bleep**.

  • My device is working fine (maybe too well for Google), they're the ones deciding to pull the plug on possibly millions of devices that are still working.

Agree, not useful at all and here in the UK who wants a Tado compared to the sleek looking Nest. I would like to know the answer to this question. What are you doing Google, how long will it be before we lose the same functionality from a version 3?

Hi @skeeta1470,

Thank you very much for sharing this information in this community!

Regarding the 6 zones using Nest thermostats, where 3 are Nest Learning Thermostat 2nd gen, it is highly recommended that you replace them before October to ensure everything works as expected.

You will receive a discount code for this replacement. To facilitate this, the team would like to know more about this behavior. When you get a chance, please fill out this form. Remember to include the link to this post. Let me know when you’re finished. From there, we'll contact you via email.

@Tasandriel, thanks you so much for sharing that information!

Feel free to keep me posted.

Regards,

Eduardo

It's funny how none of the Community Specialists respond to the numerous complaints being posted by people that don't want to have their 1st and 2nd gen Nest Thermostats turned into a brick by Google.

You really think people are just going to agree to spend another few hundred euro's because Google decides it's time to pull the plug because Nest's products have lasted too long to their liking?

2 thermostats costed me 500 euros and they were advertised with online functionality. Nothing gives Google the right to withdraw those features (especially not if the only reason being given is pure corporate greed).

Worst case they could make it  opensource or allow API access to the devices, but they chose to go the scummy way instead.

This needs to be turned into a class action lawsuit, it's disgusting.

I have 5 zones and AC,  6 total Nest thermostats..Big money spent here. 3 are going to be bricked. Do I stay or do I go?  Your 100% correct..... that's why I asked the question.

Hi @skeeta1470

There is no announced end of support date for Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen).

Yet, just wait 🫣

I have zero trust left in Google after this bull**bleep**.
