Eco does not go lower than 60F

While away for months I can’t set eco mode lower than 60F. Since I am away in winter 50 F would be sufficient but system won’t let me do it.

Hello Jrcstwo45,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd love to know more about this.

To isolate, could you please tell us the Nest Thermostat model you have? Are you adjusting the Eco Temperature through the app or through your thermostat device? Also, could you provide a rundown of all the steps you've tried?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Mark

Hello,

I installed the basic Nest a few months ago.
Jan 6 I left home to go on vacation for 3 months.
The Nest is in northeast,I wanted to set at temperature that would prevent the freezing of water pipes.
So I set eco mode at infinity setting.
I set the mode and temperature while away using the google home.
I would like to set it at 50F,it does let me do it but in a minute or two it goes back to 60F.
We use electric heat.
Read several postings about it ,did not find any solution.
Called Google, they said that Nest basic can’t be set under 60F on eco mode nobody knew why !!
Thanks for looking into it,
J

Hi there,

I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you, and I appreciate the steps you've taken.

You can try setting the "Heat to" above 60 degrees for the heating and turning off the "Cool to" option on the Eco Temperature. Also, I'd suggest enabling the "Safety Temperature," which would be best to ensure that your pipes won't freeze or your home won't overheat. You can find this settings here and let me know if you need more help.

Regards,

Mark

Thanks Mark.

I did set the safety temp to 45 and cool to 95.

could the 45 F setting prevent the eco mode to be set at 50 or 55?

the other instructions you sent to set heat to above 60 degrees for the heating and turning off cool to option on the eco temperature I did not understand.

can you please clarify that?

thanks

jose

Hi Jrcstwo45,

I'm sorry for the delay and for any confusion this may have caused you. Turning off the "Cool to" option is under the Eco Temperature settings when adjusted. But how's it going so far? Did the temperature adjustment help?

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Jake,

thanks for following up.

I think the information you provided was for the learning nest.

I have the basis nest.

my Neighbour suggested to delete all programs day/ sleep etc.

that solved the problem, now while I am

away it’s just a dummy thermostat,it does just the set temperature which can be below 60.

thanks
