Fan not working with heat pump

Community Member

We just moved into a brand new, tiny, laneway house. Everything is new. The house supposed to be smart with a bunch of Nest products. We have a heat pump and HVAC system. The fan is not working automatically. The heat pump is working but no air is blowing. I have to manually turn it on when I expect it to turn on and off automatically. I have tried the eco mode on and off but it doesn't make a difference. Often the house is hotter inside that out. The person who installed the heat pump checked the set up and said that everything is fine and that the Google Nest thermostat is at fault. I have been checking the settings and there is one that ask for the heat pump location? Does that matter for my issue? I wonder in there is a set up error as I have an HVAC system (which supposed to suck and circulate the air) and the fan (which blows air inside the house? There are different vents for them? Any suggestions or advice? We have not tested the heating system as it has been hot since we moved in but we have heating floors.

Hello toni_crvnts,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

To isolate:

  • Please share with us a photo of your Nest Thermostat's wiring.
  • Gather the power readings in the Technical Info settings or in the Equipment settings.
  • Inspect that all wires are properly connected and that the tabs are pushed down on its base.
  • Check that the power from your HVAC system at the breaker box is On.
    • Usually, there are emergency switches located near the system as well. Check to ensure that it's turned on.

I'll look forward to your response.
