My Gen 3 Nest thermostat fan speed is always high during cooling or during fan only setting! In the thermostat or on the app I see no way to set speed to auto, or low, or medium. How do I get fan speed control?
I have a simple a/c with electric heat unit in my Florida home. My wires are Y, G, R, W, and C.
Any suggestions?
Would upgrading to Gen 4 Thermostat give me fan speed control?
What am I missing?

Does your system have the ability to control the fan speed?
The 3rd Gen Learning thermostat can control a multiple-speed fan but it needs to be wired to do so and yours is only wired to control one speed.

Yes, I checked my closet unit and the schematic label shows 3 fan speeds are available. The Nest was in my home when I moved in, so it uses the existing wire from closet to thermostat. Would I need an additional wire for fan speed control?

I paid for an hour service call from my local HVAC company to lower the fan speed in the control area of the closet air handler. Fan noise is lower and not so distracting when conversing in the hallway near the closet.
