I have a new Nest Thermostat running Version 1.1-9 for a heating only system. My wiring is W, G, R. The fan won't turn on using the timer. The fan runs while heating just fine, but won't run independently like it should because I have a G wire. Please help!

Hi Shane,

My apologies for the delay of response, and sorry to hear about your fan issues! That's especially not fun to experience summer heat without one. I'm happy to look into this issue for you.

Can you try opening your Google Home app and following the below steps?
  • Tap Settings.
  • Select your thermostat.
  • Tap Device Features.
  • Tap Thermostat.
  • Tap Wiring.
Does the app suggest rewiring your thermostat? Do you have a port for a C-wire? It's another possibility that due to an inconsistent charge from your HVAC system, your thermostat won't run the fan as it should. Can you also provide a photo of your system's wiring? I'd be able to get a clearer picture of how your HVAC is set up. 🙂

I look forward to your reply and hope we can resolve this together.
