Faulty nest 3 learning thermostat

My learning thermostat was working fine one minute but now will not connect t to wi fi  and won’t hold battery - I have done all the trouble shooting bits but got nowhere . From reading it seems like this is a common fault with the third generations  and as such it should be replaced ? I am struggling to find out how I go about this  other than finding a phone number to America which is going to cost me an arm and a leg to ring. Can anyone advise how I can contact a real person via phone or email in the uk ?!
