GENERAL Troubleshooting Help Needed for Nest E Thermostat!

Hi All,

I have been in my "new" apt for 10 months now and have made 5 full-fledged attempts at connecting my Nest E Thermostat to the app that have all failed!  I get to what I assume is the final step where re WiFi connection which is where it always fails.  All of my other devices are connected to the same WiFi and all work perfectly fine!  I have tried dozens of troubleshooting options provided on the various Google and Nest forums, but still no luck.  Is there any sort of HUMAN tech support available that can just walk me through the whole thing from beginning to end?  Or if there is something I have not yet tried re the WiFi connection, please let me know.  (Though it's hard for me to imagine that I haven't already tried everything!)  Please help before I rip this thing off the wall in frustration!  Thank you.

Hello Asphyxia8,

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues adding your Nest Thermostats to the app, and I appreciate all the steps you have taken. I'm happy to shed some light on the situation here.

The assisting device is too far away or isn't powered on. The battery might be too low to complete the process due to newly installed issues and environmental issues that interfere with the connection between the router and the thermostats are some of the possible reasons why it won't connect to the app. To isolate:

  • Are you getting any messages when it fails to connect? If so, what's the exact message?
  • Are they showing the same message on all your Nest Thermostats during the setup?
  • How far is your thermostat from your router?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near your thermostat? These devices could interfere with your Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signal.
  • Have you confirmed that your network settings are compatible with Nest?
  • What's the make and model of the phone you're using for the setup?
  • Do you have other Nest devices connected to your home? What are those?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,
Mark
