Google Nest Cooling Far Past Set Temp

Mkempy

I’ve noticed at night my Google Nest (the google home integrated one, not any of the Nest ones) is cooling multiple degrees past the set temperature. For example last night I had the AC set at 70*, I woke up at around 3am freezing only to notice the thermostat had cooled the room all the way down to 66*. This is a pretty common occurrence and has happened frequently since I upgraded from my original Nest Learning Thermostat. Is there a way to get it to stop cooling multiple degrees past the desired temp? I’ve checked for features like cool to dry (since I live in a humid climate) and those don’t appear or aren’t on. How can I resolve this?

Hi Mkempy,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

  • How is your Nest Thermostat wired?
  • What is the target temperature that is shown on the display?
  • Have you checked if there is an unwanted schedule?

Thanks,

Edward

1. I’m not quite sure how to upload how it’s wired. But it’s Y cool, G fan, W Heat, R power

2. The temperature is set on cool with a temp of either 69 or 70, I usually switch between those two temps

3. no, all schedules are disabled intentionally

Hi Mkempy,

Thanks for the response. Does it still say cooling on the display when it's running past the target temperature? Also, please check the power reading of you Nest Thermostat by going to Settings > Technical Info > Power.

Thanks,

Edward
