I'm trying to install my nest thermostat to my two wire heating system. Google sent me a power connector to provide the needed power to run it, but the wiring on my boiler doesn't match any of the diagrams they provided. Anyone have any experience with this situation? Am I looking for the control panel in the wrong place?
I see they have a service to connect the power adapter, but if can avoid paying the price of a house call id prefer that.

First of all, you need to tell us the model of the heating system. We need to verify the heating system uses a 24VAC control system. When you currently turn on the heat system, how does the heat get into the rooms?

My boiler is a pennco steam boiler that goes to radiators on my 1st floor.

Most Pennco hot water boilers have a Honeywell has gas valve and and 24 VAC transformer. They typically wire them with a R carrying 24VAC to a thermostat and and W going back to the control system. There will not likely be a COMMON wire typically run but if the thermostat cable behind the current thermostat has an unused conductor, it can be easily connect to the Transformer Common side and the nest will have a charging capability. Here is a picture that might explain it.
