My current thermostat has the wiring as shown. Nest Thermostat instructions indicate that it’s not compatible with my current wiring. As I purchased the Nest Thermostat through a Duke Energy promotion, my preliminary investigation found that with a Nest Power Connector which I purchased as well, the Nest Thermostat would work with my system. Is this true or should I return this product? In addition, if the wiring and power connector can work, how do I get past the incompatibility instruction screen to proceed with installation? Thank you for your help.

Hi JDM1,
Thanks for posting here in the Community forum and for showing interest in our Nest Thermostats. If your current wiring doesn't work with the Nest Thermostat, it's crucial to check compatibility requirements before installation. However, if you have a Nest Power Connector specifically designed for system compatibility issues, it may be possible to make the thermostat work.
To determine if the Nest Power Connector is compatible with your thermostat, refer to the specific guidelines provided by Nest and the Nest Power Connector's documentation, which outline the supported wiring configurations and systems. If the Nest Power Connector is indeed compatible with your system and resolves the compatibility issue, you should be able to proceed with the installation.
Let us know if that helps.
Best,
Zoe
