Google Nest unauthorized changes to my temperature aettings

Sopuga

I don’t care if I can change it back, I never authorized Google to change any settings on my Nest- including temperatures via Seasonal Savings. This needs to be a class action lawsuit for invasion of privacy, unauthorized tamper with a device, hacking a device and possibly interstate crimes.

This is how Google tries to tell us how to run our lives after taking our money for a device and pushing their far left climate change agenda.

Google: back off and keep your hands off my thermostat!!!

Hi Sopuga,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear that the Seasonal Savings feature enabled itself on your thermostat without your permission. Here's what you can do to stop this feature:

  • Nest app
    1. Open the Nest app.
    2. Tap your thermostat and select History.
    3. If Seasonal Savings is running, you will see how many days remain and a Stop button.
  • Home app
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Tap Favorites or Devices.
    3. Tap your thermostat.
    4. If Seasonal Savings is active, there will be a notification.
    5. Tap the notification  and select Leave program or OK.
    6. Then select Yes, leave or Stay.

Let us know if that helps.

Best,

Zoe

Sorry, but you don’t get it. I don’t want opt out every season for something I never sign up for to begin with - you’re violating my privacy and changing my setting without my permission. This needs to be defaulted to opt out and people that want it can opt in. Otherwise it’s a violation of my privacy and the Google User Agreement. Show me where I agreed to allow you to change my temperature. Turn it off so I don’t have to disable it every time you decide to save the world and force it on us. Don’t tell me how to turn it off….

I’m in the same boat. I don’t want any of these features, ever. I have opted out before, but I just received another notification.
Searching only gets me instructions like those above, which don’t match what I see in the Nest app on iOS.

Hi folks,

@Sopuga and @Nest-a-nuisance, I'm sorry for any confusion and if my previous responses were not helpful in addressing your concerns. If you have concerns about changes made to your thermostat settings, such as with the Seasonal Savings, I recommend you reach out to your energy provider about this matter directly. They will be able to provide you with accurate information and assistance regarding any changes or settings related to your thermostat.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Zoe
