Google home and nest

I have two homes in home 1 I have a nest thermostat and nest protects all on the nest app. And its working fine. 
home 2 has a nest  thermostat and nest protects. I created a second home and added the protects to the app no problem but when I try to add the thermostat it asks me to use the goggle home app which I did and it installed fine but now in order to check the house I have to use two apps. 
what am I missing? Isn’t there a way to have it all on one app either nest or google home?

Sorry for the delay but thanks for reaching out. 

What specific type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Is the one with a mirrored display? If it is, I'm afraid that can only be set up and managed via the Google Home app. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app.
