Google needs to be held accountable for their mistake in flushing great product down the drain

I have been a long time supporter of NEST well before Google purchased NEST. They were high quality products, built to last. They were not inexpensive, but you pay for what you get, expecting a long life cycle of the product. Thermostats are expected to work for many years, and in fact older style thermostats are still working after many decades of operation. ENTER Google - stripping quality of the application and usefulness, reducing cost of the thermostat and quality, and taking away the ability to use the thermostats we have in our own homes - Nest Gen 1 & 2 and not only not providing support with updates, but taking them off our Google home accounts. This is completely unacceptable and Google is taking great quality products that we have paid well for, and flushing them down the drain - at our Expense. Who in there right mind would ever buy from Google again, when they decide on the lifespan (short) on a product you have purchased. This is an illegal practice and they need to be held accountable.

@Mwawryk ,

There has been a transitional  period going and the roadmap clearly evolved and so had the Google Home app.  Now with Google Gemini AI ot surpasses the form and functionality of the Nest App.  You could not create automation scripts in the Nest App and you can with the Google Home app.  Many third party products are Google Home compatible.  The world we live in is betting much brighter and rewarding with Google Home and the Google Nest Learning Thermostat Gen-4. Join ud as we evolve you home automation in single autonomous solution.

Nice simping, no one is asking for ai thermostat's, killing perfectly working devices is just a money grab... Open source it, than we talk again.

@Gohan ,

Nobody ask for anything it simply technology evolution.  And open source is not a viable for a consumer product such as a commodity product like a thermostat. You call this a money grab. This company survival for the future.  Google offered you a discount to join the future.  Your choice it to not join and to speak out negatively.  If this were a money grab why did they offer you a discount on a Gen-4?

NOT agreeing with you at all. Could have left the functionality intact. Not trusting them in the future to do the same thing to the"discounted rate" therms  as well. Trust broken, period.
