Good evening
I'm having issues with my nest thermostat no WiFi W5 error
I have also noticed the vin voltage is on 0.00v
This is my second thermostat that I have had and again it's failed https://ibb.co/XffK9Ctb

The vin voltage will be 0 as you are connected with a USB lead and adapter.
Vusb is 4.98v is the power going to your thermostat, and that is correct.

It is like a power issue—have you checked if the C-wire is properly connected? A voltage reading of 0V might indicate it's not getting enough power from the CarX street game HVAC system.

I suppose something needs to be clarified here, are you USA or UK/EU?
I assumed as you had a lin reading of 200mA, you are in the UK/EU?

Is everything good now?

A W5 error usually points to a hardware issue, especially if the VIN voltage is at 0. You might want to check the C-wire connection Unlocking Success or try a factory reset. If it’s the second failure, it could be worth contacting Google Support for a replacement.

Hi sorry I'm in the UK
Voltage is reading
Battery 3.910v
Vusb 4.98v
Vin 0.00v
Lin is 200ma
I have already tried plugging the thermostat using a separate lead for over an hour and still no different I just can't connect to my WiFi
I have been reading it's an issue with the WiFi chip ?

Those numbers are perfect, nothing wrong with any of them.
This is where location is key, and as you are in the UK, your Vin voltage has NOTHING to do with a ''C'' wire as you DON'T have one!
You have a Heat Link, and the Vin voltage would come from there IF you have it connected, and you don't as it's connected via a USB cable and wireless. Correct so far?
The W5 error is a Wi-Fi issue, and that can sometimes be solved by resetting the Network in the display. My guess it's a chip issue, and nothing will work, but try resetting the Network in Settings - Reset - Reset Network. Do that TWICE while you are in the reset screen, don't come out of that screen.

Thanks but just tried that and still the same

I am not suprised as the W5 fault has been going around for years, and my guess is your Wi-Fi chip is fried!
How old is the display, and you say it's the second one. Has Google replaced in the past?

Not sure of the age we have only had the boiler installed a year and this is the second W5 fault thermostat they changed it for a recondition unit
So by contacting Google this will now be my third thermostat maybe it's time to change it to another brand
Thanks for all your help

Hi Sordids,
Thanks for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest Thermostat is not connecting to WiFi and is showing the W5 error code, but there's no need to worry; I'm happy to help you right now.
I appreciate the information you provide me about the power voltage on your Nest Thermostat. Please help me out by answering the following questions:
What Nest thermostat model do you have?
Do you control your thermostat from the Nest or Google Home app or by the thermostat's display?
Did you try to restart your WiFi router?
Did you restart the thermostat?
Do you reset the Nest Thermostat Network?
Can you please send me a picture of your Nest Thermostat showing the W5 error code?
Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

I have tried many options you have mentioned and still nothing works I would buy a second hand thermostat on eBay but worried how long this will last due to the common fault
Any ideas on a popular thermostat to buy brand new ?
