H158 error message and power issues with Nest Thermostat E

Hi,

We got a Google Nest Thermostat E from SSE when we moved into our new house just over a year ago. We got an electrician to install it and it initially appeared to work fine although it was summer so we didn’t really use it much. Then as soon as winter came, it stopped working.

Most of the time, the thermostat won’t power on even when plugged in. It then briefly turns on with error code H158 and a message then quite quick says it’s shutting down. It’s then really hard trying to get it to turn on again. We tried taking the front off and charging via USB but this still doesn’t make it turn on and just gives a green flashing light at the top. Just to reiterate, it was working fine then this started happening and now we are despairing with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

James

Hi Barnety2000,

You’ll see this code if you’ve removed the Heat Link from your account, and your thermostat disconnected from the app. Reset your thermostat to factory default, then reconnect it and the Heat Link to the app.

Follow this guide for more details.

Thanks for lending a hand, Mel.

We’ve sorted it now thanks! We tried everything and it turns out the thermostat was faulty and we ordered a replacement, which now works fine. Thanks again!

Hello there,

Sounds great! Thanks for the update, @Barnety2000.  I'm glad to know that it was sorted out. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread in 24 hours unless I can help out with anything else.

Regards,

Mark
