H71 error and Heatlink Key not visible

Hi all,

Unable to connect the thermostat to the heatlink and based on where it was installed I cannot see the 6 digit key. Is there any other way of getting the heatlink code?

There are 3 ways to find the Heat Link code, but by the sounds of things, your out of luck without at least looking at the code by the cover screw! That's the easy way IF the cover matches the base you OK, but some have been fitted as mixed cover and base.

Hi @StevieBBall , thanks for reaching out to us here. I would be happy to try and assist.

Like @Frustratedddd mentioned, thanks for the input, you can find the pairing key on the cover, where the screw goes in to hold the cover on or on the body on the Heat Link under the cover, next to one of the holes for screws.

If you need further assistance paring the thermostat, make sure to let us know here.

Hi Alex,

After much struggling I've got the lid off and the code. Unfortunately it's still not pairing. Tried hard reset and directly placing the units near each other to no avail. Replacement or further advice needed.

Thanks for the information.

Just to check, is this a new installation or has it been installed and working for some time before this behavior occurred?

It was installed nearly 2 years ago.

Understood. Did you have any power cuts in the area or any work done on the heating system before this behavior occurred?

Has the location of the thermostat been moved or perhaps some new appliances added in the area between the Heat Link and the thermostat display?

No to all of those. It's been installed far too close to the boiler based on the tips and other things I've read, but there's nothing that's directly happened to affect the system.

We generally recommend the Heat Link is at least 30 cm away from the boiler and other objects like pipes wires to reduce the chance of interference. Also that the boiler is not in the path between the Heat Link and the thermostat display. Let us try and see if we can get it to pair again for now with these steps:

1. Move the thermostat as close as possible to the Heat Link. Make sure it is still attached to the base and connected to power.

2. Turn off the Wi-Fi router and any other appliances that could cause interference.

3. Take the display off the base and squeeze it in your hands for about 10 seconds. It should turn off and back on again. Repeat this process 2 more times and then place it back on the base.

4. Select the option called Replace Heat Link but don't put in the paring key just yet.

5. Take down the key from the Heat Link and then press and hold the button on the Heat Link for 25 seconds. Let go and do it one more time. You should have a blue blinking LED.

6. Now put in the key from the Heat Link on the display and see if they connect.
