Heat blasting in bedroom when the temp is already above the setting

Heat is blasting  in my bedroom even though the temperature is way above the designated setting schedule.  I took the batteries out of the thermostat and waited three minutes and then reinstated them but that didn’t solve the problem.  All I could do was take the thermostat off the way and remove the batteries and keep them removed in or for the heat to finally turn off.

A few questions: what Nest Thermostat do you have? Check this link to know what thermostat you have. Since when has this been happening?
