Heat link no lights

Susan333
Community Member

Overnight our heatlink has stopped working. Completely dead with no lights. We've no heating or hot water.

I've tried the reset, the hold down for 30 seconds, cut power to the while house to see if it would reboot, but no.

It was installed about 18 months ago and has been working perfectly since then.

Please help

Susan

Same here, gen 3.

Looking online it seems like a common fault. Loads of people are having the same issue with the heat links just randomly dying.  I hope Google offer an extended warranty for this fault.  There is an obvious design flaw.

Yes, so I got onto Nest and they are sending a replacement and also paying for the replacement to be installed.  I hope there's warranty on the new unit

Hi Susan,

The Heat link units seem to be breaking after about 1 year - google wont acknowledge the fault so unfortunately if you're out of warranty when the fault occurs again (which there is a high probability of happening) unfortunately you will be stuck. - Google refuse to sell the heat link receiver on its own you will have to replace the lot including your thermostat.

Personally, I am going to get mine replaced under warranty then get rid of the lot while it works and has some value. Its such a shame because when it works its a great system.

Glad you get a replacement. good luck 🙂

Hmmm, that sounds like a good idea.  What would you replace it with?

Hey @Susan333 and @Rether16,

Sorry for the late reply. How's it going with your thermostats. Is there anything I can do to help?

Hello again. Just checking in. Do you still need my help?

I have sold the unit so it doesn’t matter anymore.

…It would be nice if you could confirm if the new replacement units have had some change in the design to help prevent this known issue from recurring?

Hey @Rether16,

I don't know if there was a design change, but I'm certain that our engineers are working on preventing these type of issues in the future.
