Heat vs Water work around

Hi folks,

I recently made this post to try and get an understanding if my system boiler could use the call for water function.

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Nest-Thermostats/Hot-water-function/m-p/378599#M81506

N.B there is no segration if the system comes on both radiators and water tank get heat.

Looked like short of a rewire I was going to have to live with scheduling heat for 1 hour even though 30 mins is more than enough.

Well I just figured out I can leave my schedule as is. Turn my radiators off as planned during the summer and use the routines feature in Google home to set the temperature to 9°C 30 mins into my planned schedule. It's a work around. But it'll work. Why Nest itself doesn't allow heat schedules in 15 min increments is a bit daft, this work around is just extra steps to achieve what I need.

Hi there, thanks for reaching out again. I understand that the fact that the schedule only permits 1 hour adjustments to the schedule is not fitting perfectly to everyone's needs, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience created in your situation. The programming of the schedule is made in 1 hour intervals in order to ensure the highest energy consumption / generated heat ratio and also in that hour interval if the temperature is reached earlier, the thermostat will stop calling for heat. The way your thermostat is set up is not how it was designed to function, as the hot water should be wired separately from the heating. If you would use the hot water as was intended, you would be able to set 30 minutes set points. At this point, I can only advise to set the system accordingly, with a Y plan or S plan, f you want to use the thermostat more efficiently, but if you want to keep your current set-up I'm afraid you'll have to use the work around you described. Please let me know if I or my colleagues can do anything to assist you.
