Hi all,
I installed my thermostat and noticed coupe issues.. there’s an orange wire which means I have a heat pump but when I connect that wire, the AC won’t stop cooling even 10 degrees below the set temperature. So I removed and the issue seemed to be resolved but sometimes the AC turns the heat on even when I set it up to cool. Can you help?

Hello Ronaldo_o90,
It sounds like you're dealing with some thermostat issues, and I'd be happy to try and help you troubleshoot. It's great that you identified the orange wire as related to the heat pump. The fact that the AC won't stop cooling when connected to the orange wire might indicate a wiring or configuration problem.
Firstly, double-check your thermostat and ensure that you've connected the wires correctly. Make sure that the orange wire is at the right terminal designated for heat pumps. Additionally, confirm that the settings on your thermostat are configured properly for a heat pump system. Some thermostats have specific settings or programming options that need to be adjusted for optimal functionality with heat pumps.
Regarding the issue of the AC turning on when you've set it to cool, it could be related to a wiring issue. Check for any loose connections or exposed wires in the thermostat's wiring. If everything looks secure, it might be a good idea to perform a factory reset on your thermostat and reconfigure it from scratch, ensuring you select the correct settings for a heat pump system.
I hope this helps. Let us know if you have more questions.
Best regards,
Mark
