Help - Not able to setup a Nest Thermostat

Vincent_L

Hi All, Hope someone can help me.  I have a brand new Nest Thermostat (Heating only config) which is connected using a 24v transformer for power.  VIN: 33.846V, lin: 385 and PS: C-385 (whatever those mean).  The problem I am having is that I cannot configure WiFi on the thermostat through the Google Home app.  The thermostat is connected to the boiler and works just fine manually.  When I go to configure the WiFi through the app, my phone doesn't find it, then it fails when  "Trying to connect to an assisting Nest device" with "Can't connect to assisting device" despite the fact I also have a Nest Thermostat E in another room).  Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi Vincent_L,

I'm sorry if you are having issues adding your Nest Thermostat to the Google Home app. We'd like you to have a better experience.

Let's try these steps:

  1. Restart your Nest Thermostat E to refresh the connection.
  2. For your new Nest Thermostat, reset it to its factory default.
  3. Remove the display from the base and take out the batteries for at least 3 minutes.
  4. Plug the batteries back in and connect the display to its base.
  5. Try adding your Nest Thermostat to the Google Home App.
    1. Make sure that your phone's Bluetooth and Wi-FI are on.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Mark
