I have two extra wires that do not have a home for the nest thermostat. I have  heat pump system with an AUX and L.

Which nest thermostat do i need to use for compatibility with my system.

L is not needed it is just to illuminate the light on the old Tstat.

Heat pumps you put the white wire to W and it is for the Aux heat coils to activate when the heat pump cannot provide enough heat.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out @Kgenterprise3 — I saw your post and wanted to chime in.

Thanks @Houptee for your help.

Here's how you should wire your Nest Thermostat:

  • For Nest Thermostat 2020: White wire to W, Blue wire to C, Green wire to G, Yellow wire to Y, Orange wire to *OB and Red wire to R (Leave your pink wire disconnected).
  • For Nest Learning thermostat: White wire to W1, Blue wire to C, Green wire to G, Yellow wire to Y1, Orange wire to OB and Red wire to RC or RH (Leave your pink wire disconnected).
  • For Nest Thermostat E: White wire to W1, Blue wire to C, Green wire to G, Yellow wire to Y1, Orange wire to *OB and Red wire to R (Leave your pink wire disconnected).

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Best,

Jenelyn
