Home App says error

When I click on Thermostat on My Google Home app it says ERROR. I Checked the Thermostat it shows that it is connected to WIFI. I have to reset the thermostat so my Google Home works. I have reset to factory setting, restarted the modem, reinstalled the app, changed the batteries. It always comes back to this same, massively inconvenient issue. Are there any fixes for this?

Same here. Tried all the reset, readd and reinstall steps recommended here. The thermostat itself says wifi and account connected. So I don't know what to do next. Other installation works with the same phone/app. It would work for a while (from a couple days to a couple weeks) after a reset. Is the unit faulty?

Hey folks,

Sorry for the delayed response but thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community. I also appreciate that you both tried all these troubleshooting steps already. I want to check on this further.

A few questions — is this the new Nest Thermostat? Have you tried checking on other mobile devices if you get the same message? Also, have you tried our interactive troubleshooter here: https://bit.ly/3s0IXC7?

I have tried it.  It doesn't have any answer or option as to why my device just says "Error". We've had the device for a bit over a year but it's always had this problem.

When it says Error, if I reset my router it reconnects to the app again. So I think something isn't right with the settings on the router but there is no guide I can find for this.

It is the only device on my house that gives me this problem.

Hey folks,

sheji01, glad to hear that you've found a fix. I'm hoping that this would indeed resolve your concern as when your thermostat’s battery level is low, it will really disconnect from Wi-Fi. This is to conserve power so it can continue controlling your system. If your thermostat repeatedly loses battery charge, it may require a C wire or the Nest Power Connector.

dwillisgt3, this is odd. Do you get the same "Error" message on any other mobile devices where a Nest app is installed? If you also have a computer, could you try logging into https://bit.ly/3gW4i8w and try controlling your thermostat from there?

Best,

Melba

The new version without the learning function.

Tried many things and just wasn't working other than resetting the device to re-establish app access. The device itself seems to be on WiFi and connected to account without any detectable error, before resetting. Recently I got low battery warning at 2.98v. I replaced AAA battery and so far no error for 2.5 weeks. However, the battery dropped from 3.17v to 3.09v within this time. My other 2 nest thermostats (same model) lasted 5/7 months with original battery still at 3.17v/3.12v. Checked the wiring and power, seems to be fine.

Just hope this battery would resolve the error.
