Home app not detecting power connector

mke_nest_user

I installed the nest power connector to my furnace (didn't have a C wire). The thermostat says the source of power is the power connector and the heat seems to work fine. But on a couple of occasions, I've received this message in the home app (emails me as well):

[Urgent] Your Nest Thermostat Living Room Thermostat isn’t getting consistent power.

It then recommends I install a nest power connector, which I've already done.

Is there actually a problem? Or is this just an issue with the app? Do I need to update the app to say that I have a C wire now that the power connector is installed? How do I resolve this?

Hi Jake, thanks for responding. However, I already reviewed that link -- and I didn't see anything that addressed why I'd be getting a message that I need to install a power connector when I already installed one and the thermostat is working/furnace is working. In the few weeks since I've installed the power connector, I've never had any issues with the heat not being able to stay at whatever temperature I set the thermostat to. I'm ultimately trying to determine if there's actually a problem, or if I can just ignore these messages when they periodically appear (last message was five days ago).

Hey there,

Do you happen to know what the power readings on your device are showing? Are the readings showing around the numbers below? If so, then you are getting constant power to your device.

  • Voc: 29 to 42V
  • Vin: 29 to 42V
  • Iin: 100 or 200 mA

Best regards,

Jake

Hi Jake, the readings do show that it seems to be getting constant power. I did a factory reset a little over a week ago and have not received that notification since then.
